About AJ Foundation

Organizational History:

In January of 1997, The AJ Foundation For Children With Autism, a non-profit organization, was formed by parents and family members of children with autism in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Our mission is to implement and support quality educational services dedicated to improving the lives of children with autism. These services are based on the principles of applied behavior analysis, or ABA, which have been proven to be the most effective method of teaching children with autism. The AJ Foundation’s greatest accomplishment to date has been the opening of one of Pennsylvania’s first highly specialized private schools for children with autism called The Comprehensive Learning Center. The AJ Foundation conducts fundraising activities to help offset the operational costs of this program and to facilitate the expansion of it in order to meet the growing needs of the autistic population in our community. The AJ Foundation received its tax-exemption status in July 1997.

Highlights

  • In September, 1997, The AJ Foundation initiated the opening of The Bucks County Intermediate Unit #22’s first public ABA program for elementary aged students with autism
  • The AJ Foundation then, in 1998, assisted the Council Rock School District in pioneering its first public ABA program for elementary aged students with autism
  • Prior to The AJ Foundation’s involvement with both The Bucks County Intermediate Unit and Council Rock, no specialized public elementary level services, based on the principles of applied behavior analysis, were available for our children with autism.
  • In September 2000, the AJ Foundation opened Pennsylvania’s first licensed private school for children with autism between the ages of 5 through 14, called the Comprehensive Learning Center.
